Weekly Wag: Animal Reiki

I am certified to practice Animal Reiki since October 2010. I use mainly on cats and dogs, more so than people. Practitioners are people who practice Reiki. Reiki  (ray-kee) is a Japanese system of healing using universal or spiritual energy. “Rei” means spirit, “ki” means energy. Sometimes translated as universal life force energy, founded, or should I say rediscovered, by Mikao Usui in the 1920′s, called Usui Reiki. Reiki is energy that comes from a Divine Source (creator, God) and is available to everyone, regardless of religious background or education. Reiki is not a religion and does not follow any doctrine and is used for people, animals and plants and much more! There are 3 levels of Reiki, the third level is a Reiki Master. You can continue and become a Reiki Master/Teacher. (There is a Western version, I study/follow more traditional Usui Japanese Reiki). Many other branches or types of Reiki have been founded. Spiritual or Universal energy has been around since the beginning of time. Reiki is complimentary with other healing modalities, crystals. flower essences, TCM, herbs, etc.

Kathleen Prasad is founder of Animal Reiki Source. She is a Reiki Master/Teacher and author and dedicated her teaching career to Animal Reiki full-time in 2002. Reiki cannot harm your pet and is non-intrusive. It can be given hands-on or a short distance away. You cannot give your pet too much Reiki and is used to heal, relieve stress and in healthy pets, maintains health. Reiki energy goes where it is needed most, whether a physical or emotional healing is needed. In fact, the Reiki practitioner “lets go” without expectations to let Reiki do its work. The practitioner’s function is to be a channel for the energy to flow. Reiki is a great system to use for shelter and rescue pets. More about Animal Reiki with Kathleen Prasad.
