Happy Valentine’s Day from Pets of the Homeless

Valentine’s Day brings to mind hearts, flowers and candy. We at Pets of the Homeless wish you all of those things.

We also ask you to put Pets of the Homeless in your heart this Valentine’s Day.

To think about pets of the homeless, we remember they are without a home and go where the homeless go.  They can’t speak for themselves to say they’re hungry, thirsty or need a comfortable place to lie down.

Pets of the Homeless volunteers make every effort to find places willing to become a collection site for donated pet food & supplies.  Any willing business, church, veterinarian’s office, etc. can become a collection site where pet food and supplies can be dropped off.

Volunteers at distribution centers repackage pet food into gallon or quart plastic bags because they are easier for the homeless to take with them.

Any willing soup kitchen, thrift store, homeless shelter or place where the homeless congregate can become a Distribution Center.  This is where the pet food & supplies are given to the homeless with pets.

Local, volunteer veterinarians are an essential part of the Pets of the Homeless organization.  They volunteer their time to vaccinate, spay/neuter, and treat pets of the homeless.  Generous donors make our grant program possible.  Grants helps defray some of the costs of providing these services.

 Sincerely,

 Genevieve Frederick

Pets of the Homeless

Pets of the Homeless is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides pet food and veterinary care to the homeless and less fortunate in local communities across the United States and Canada.

Never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • Why?
3.5 million* Americans are homeless. Between 5% to 10% of homeless people have dogs and/or cats. In some areas of the country the rate is as high as 24%.
  • Who?
Each homeless person has a unique story; they are people with mental disorders, addicts, parolees, families, disabled, elderly, abused spouses, teens, and veterans.
  • How?
Our member collection sites accept donated pet food from people like you.  They then deliver it to distributing organizations (food banks, homeless shelter and/or soups kitchens) which have agreed to distribute the pet food to the homeless and poor. FIND HELP FOR YOUR PET BY STATE/REGION

FACE Foundation-Saving Pets and Helping Families

Many people are having a hard time in this tough economy. The last thing we need is to worry about taking care of our pets. Giving them up is NOT an option. They are a part of our family!

The FACE Foundation is the first of its kind in San Diego County. While there are wonderful charitable groups focused on finding homes for pets without families, there are no other organizations that are singularly dedicated to saving the lives of pets that are already in loving homes, but whose families cannot pay for all or part of the emergency or critical care they need to survive.

Funding is limited to pet owners residing in San Diego county.

Resources Outside San Diego County, San Diego & Nationwide

Established in 2006, The Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, whose mission is to enhance and keep the quality of life of animals by providing access to necessary medical care and education. Based on established criteria, FACE provides financial grants to animal owners who are unable to partially or fully cover the cost of their pet’s emergency or critical care.
