Sadly, Rey, Milo, and Cali got out of the house July 21st and have not seen them since. Cali is the baby of Milo and Rey, born December 25, 2014. I have had them since they were all babies. I miss them dearly and pray they are safe.

Our 3 Lost Kitties

kitty collage

On July 21st, we lost 3 kitties; Rey, Milo and Cali. A very sad day, to say the least. All three cats, indoor cats, escaped or was taken from their home. Technically they are my daughters’ cats, but have been in my home since all were kittens, 2 were born in our home. My daughter recently got a home of her own which was broken into while she was at work. When she returned home all the cats were gone, the screen pushed INSIDE the house with no claw marks at all from the cats making a great escape. A person(s) pushed the screen out of the window.

A strange occurrence, nothing was taken, this whole month has been very strange, like a roller coaster of huge ups and downs.

A year ago we moved from San Diego to a small country town in Kentucky where life is easy-going and mostly crime free. We drove Milo and Rey 2,000 miles to make a new home for all of us. Cali was born here on Christmas day 2014, one solid white kitten. A true blessing! I am heartbroken and pray every day our kitties will come home and are safe. Needless to say we have searched and searched. No one has seen them!

Rey is named after our friend, Aida Reyes, who left this earth after a long battle with cancer May 9, 2011. We called her Rey for short. Rei (ray) in Japanese means God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power. Rey was 8 weeks old when she came into our lives. You can read Rey’s full story here…https://thedogwalkersandiego.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/feral-cat-coalition-san-diego/.

Milo was born in our home, born May 24, 2013, when pet sitting for his parents. He stayed in our home till he was 3 weeks old. His parents took all the cats and kittens. Milo returned when he was 8 weeks old. He grew very large and loved to be petted, but not held. He came to you on his terms. Very loving.

Usually all of our pets are neutered or spay, to prevent pet overpopulation. Samantha, my daughter, wanted at least one kitten from Rey and Milo. They were inseparable and always got along from the beginning. Rey had a litter and all four kittens were born dead. Then she got pregnant again and had one white kitten. My daughter had a dream she would have a white kitten. Which would not be the norm coming from a solid black cat and a gray tabby. But she was, we named her Cali. I know Milo is the father. She started developing Siamese coloring. Our miracle kitten, one white kitten born on Christmas day.

I ask for your prayers and loving energy to keep our kitties safe and return home.

California to Kentucky

I left San Diego, California on June 10th and arrived in Elkton, Ky June 12th, 2,000 miles. I drove straight through with my daughter and furbabies. This move was a miracle in itself and I received help from some good friends. I didn’t have the resources to make this move. But I was guided (by Spirit) to make this move. I knew this was the right thing to do and the right time. I had been struggling in California for some time.

Since I am no longer in San Diego, my URL-thedogwalkersandiego.wordpress.com needed to be changed. My URL is b-kind2animals.com. This blog will always be called Touch of Home, dedicated to my Lexi. My followers will be directed to my new URL. Thank you for your patience during this time!

I rented an SUV 3 weeks early and it was my intention to tow a U-haul trailer to bring my most of my belongings. I used Hotwire (don’t ever use them, there were several issues) to rent my vehicle and told them I needed a ball to tow a trailer. It was noted. On my confirmation call a week before leaving, I was informed that rental vehicles cannot tow anything. How am I going to get all my things to Kentucky? The only choice was to leave most of my stuff, my animals were going! I upgraded to the largest van they had. You cannot rent a Uhaul van out of state in California. ???

My best friend, me, and her dog in Cali.

Unfortunately, I had to put 2 furbabies to sleep. My daughter had 6 animals between us. My Jasamine, 17 year old Siamese, was growing very weak and barely eating. I did not think she would even make the trip. Zeus, my daughter’s blind Shih Tzu, was becoming very aggressive towards me, guarding my daughter. He bit me several times. My daughter went back and forth about keeping him. We looked for rescues to take him, none would, since he was adoptable. I have never put to sleep a healthy dog and was fighting this decision.

My daughter rescued Zeus over a year ago and was adapting to out family very nicely. He had a few issues, he was special needs, nothing we were not willing to deal with. Zeus was only two and had a horrible life. His previous owners dumped him in a shelter and was to be euthanized for being aggressive. I thought it was due to all the trauma he had been through. When rescued he had one eye removed and 10% vision in the other. But I could not have an aggressive dog in the house and someone getting bit. Jasmine and Zeus were put to sleep June 6th, the 9 month anniversary of my Lexi crossing over. This was not planned but the way things worked out. I was putting this off as long as possible.

We put Rey and Milo (cats) in Sydney’s big dog crate with litter box, food and water. Sydney had her own space in the van and Heidi (shih tzu) went where she could find space. We had the van loaded with no extra space at all. We are all very happy in out new country home. We have a yard with trees. We sit outside and watch the birds, squirrels and rabbits. Oh, and we have replaced almost everything we left thanks to donations from friends. Where there is a will, there is a way!
