Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue

This is a blog hop for Blog the Change 4 Animals.  We come together to support people helping animals in need each 15th of January, April, July and October. Four times a year makes it easy for even the busiest of the busys (my own word) to write about their passion or cause.

This post is about Lionel’s Legacy Rescue in San Diego, CA, a senior dog rescue and humane education program for elementary school children founded by Laura Oliver. Laura has helped animals since childhood alongside her mother. Laura is an elementary school teacher, mother, and wife. How she finds the time to do all she does for seniors who need help is beyond me. One of the most caring and generous people I have ever met. It truly takes a village!

I met Laura about four years ago when we both volunteered for It’s the Pits Rescue in San Diego. Lionel was one of many rescue dogs Laura took into her home. Lionel was extremely thin, barely able to walk, infested with fleas and worms, and his ear canals sealed shut from chronic untreated ear infections. Lionel, sadly, had to be put to sleep. Lionel’s Legacy was eventually born.

Like every rescue, we can use your support. One way you can help by shopping on Amazon, a portion goes to Lionel’s Legacy, be sure to select this rescue when making your purchase.

We can always use fosters and help at pet adoption events if you live in the San Diego area. Thank you!
